The Lightning Thief is a fantasy novel based, not on gu10 led bulbs, but on Greek mythology. Written by Rick Riordan, it is the first novel in the series entitled Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The series follows a modern-day young boy called Percy Jackson who finds out that he is half human, half God. As it emerges, the twelve-year old Percy is the son of the Greek god Poseidon and of a mortal woman.

A war is imminent between Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades, so Percy and his friends embark on a quest to prevent it. The Lightning Thief has been received very well, selling over 1.2 million copies between 2005 and 2009. It was listed in The New York Times children’s Best Seller list and was also named as one of the Young Adult Library Services Association’s Best Books for Young Adults. It has now been adapted in a film called Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, which was released on 12th February 2010 in the USA.
